5 Lightweight Gaming Mice That Work for Roblox Under $50

Bought 3 cheap Amazon mice, popped in a total of 14 hours between Arsenal / BedWars / Rivals and got through the 2 off my list. So here is the short version: no bullshit, no padding.

Just about every article out there recommending “mice for Roblox” literally just lists some 120-gram office mice and then slapped lightweight somewhere in there. That’s not lightweight. That’s just a mouse. As far as actual weight goes, lightweight only counts if it’s under 60 grams, and once you get flicking shots in Arsenal or rushing beds in BedWars, you’ll feel it straight away.

The $50 cap matters here too. Roblox players are generally younger, penny pinching or both. There is no reason that you should have to pay for an $80 Razer in order to get smooth, precise tracking. The good news is you probably fucking don’t.

Understanding Lightweight Mouse and Its Benefits on Roblox

Being lightweight in gaming, less than 70 grams. Truly ultralight is under 55. That distinction isn’t nearly so important to many people — much less Roblox.

Roblox isn’t one game. It’s thousands. All the actual competitive ones that people actually give a shit about (Arsenal, BedWars, Rivals, Blox Fruits PvP) are fast then mouse precisely tracked. As a mouse becomes heavier, it also becomes more inertia heavy. Harder to flick. More difficult to get on target precisely. And during lengthy game sessions, your wrist will begin to tire earlier.

The positive note is, this was not 2019 anymore. Cheap mass-manufacturing methods are vibrant, you no longer need to fork out $80-$100 for a proper gaming sensor under that shell below 60g. The actual value occurs in the under-$50 category and all of 2025 and into 2026.

The thing is this, you can have a mouse that weighs under 50g for around $32. That’s the real unlock.

Grip Styles

What about grip style? This is something that no beginner guide can even scratch the surface on. There are three grips primarily: palm (full hand rests on the mouse), claw (only fingertips and palm heel contact, fingers arched), fingertip (only fingertips touch). Lightweight mice below 55g tend to benefit more from claw and fingertip grips because the reduced weight makes the inertia of the mouse itself less noticeable (i.e. since it is easy to move a ~50g mouse, using fingers / claw grip enhances mobility). Heavier Mice Can Be Better для Palm Grip Users In some cases, even cuento to some palm grip ducks prefer slightly heavier mice. Before you purchase, do remember your grip.

Main Pick: Cooler Master MM720

Price: ~$32

Weight: 49g

Sensor: PixArt PMW 3389

This mouse weighs less than 10 quarters. While the honeycomb shell appears aggressive in photos, it’s relatively comfortable in hand, and the design sheds light on how they got it to 49 grams without ruining build quality.

It’s a real metric shit-ton of gaming sensor—the PixArt PMW 3389. Not a budget knockoff. You can max it out to 16,000 DPI with 400 IPS tracking speed — total overkill for Roblox use. To put it into perspective, most people who play Roblox on a competitive level are 400-800 DPI. At these settings, this sensor is immaculate: no jittering, no spin-outs even under hard flicks.

Key Specs at a Glance

Feature Specification
Weight 49g
Sensor PixArt PMW 3389
Max DPI 16,000 (presets at 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 / 6400 / 16000)
Polling Rate 1000 Hz
Feet PTFE (low-friction, smooth glide)
Cable Braided ultralight, minimal drag
Connectivity Wired USB-A
Best Grip Claw / fingertip

The MM720′s most limiting factor is the claw shape. It’s a little snug for palm grip users with larger hands. While most younger Robloxies with small- to medium-sized hands settle into a more natural claw or fingertip position (and, just 20 minutes in, the MM720 clicks into slot).

Test Results

So, in the interest of science (and also because I wanted to try this), I tried out the MM720 over three different Roblox game modes and compared its 49g weight against a typical mouse weighing in at around 102g.

Arsenal (FPS Shooter)

Flick shots lock on to targets much quicker than they did with my previous mouse when I tested at 800 DPI and Roblox in game sensitivity of 0.5. My kill-death ratio improved from 1.2 to 1.6 across the course of 45 rounds of play. That comes from a sense of the game, not of hardware. However, 90 minutes later the reduced wrist fatigue was quantifiable. I was noticeably starting to lose my aim with the heavier mouse around the 60-minute mark.

BedWars (Fast Clicks, Building)

You need to click fast and turn your camera 90 degrees but this is BedWars. The MM720 tracked 100% of arm’s movements with no wobble as far back I would have liked to move my arm at 1600 DPI. Left-click response felt instant. That’s more than 12 matches back-to-back (about 2 hours of non-stop competition), without any tracking errors, with no issues from the cable snagging and with zero signal drops.

Rivals (Competitive PvP)

Rivals was the hardest test. Hitboxes that are snappy and punishes slow reactions. The MM720’s lift-off distance (just under 1mm) enabled hassle-free repositioning mid-fight, with plenty of overhead to prevent random cursor drift at lower than 800 DPI. The PTFE feet rolled smooth on both cloth and hard surface mouse pads.

All three games: straight performance. Works out of the box on Windows 10 and 11. No software is required unless you want to reprogram DPI presets.

Comparison Table

Mouse Weight Sensor Max DPI Connection Price Best For
Cooler Master MM720 49g PixArt PMW 3389 16,000 Wired ~$32 Ultralight, claw/fingertip grip
Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED 99g HERO 12K 12,000 Wireless ~$40 Wireless convenience, palm grip
SteelSeries Rival 3 77g TrueMove Core 8,500 Wired ~$30 Budget ergonomic, palm/claw

The G305 is not lightweight. 99 grams (or about 3.5 ounces) with the AA battery in it is perfectly average weight. Except it’s the only wireless one in this selection that doesn’t cause any noticeable lag. Logitech LIGHTSPEED wireless tech works as well as a wired connection, which is not common at this price. The HERO sensor extends to 1,200 DPI and provides up to an impressive 250 hours of use on just a single AA battery. If you hate wires more than you desire feather-light weight, the G305 makes sense. You’re adding 50 grams compared to the MM720, just know that.

It sits between the 2 and 4, with the Rival 3 taking up center space. Generally good sensor, decent construction, nothing special. It’s fine. And the MM720 inches it on every spec that (well, at least for this subject) actually matters for Roblox and costs almost the same. What is the Rival 3’s one advantage: a more traditional ergonomic shape ideal for mid to large palm grip users. Its 8,500 CPI and 300 IPS TrueMove Core sensor is more than enough for Roblox but also much less capable than the PMW 3389. If you’re a palm gripper that wants wired, the Rival 3 is the option as well. At 77 grams, just don’t call it ultralight.

Best Setup for Roblox

So, here is exactly what I would run with the MM720:

  • Step 1: Set DPI to 800. 800 DPI is considered the sweet spot for most Roblox games. Quick for fps flicks, controlled enough for building and precision movement. For slower games such as Brookhaven or Adopt me, using 400 DPI however high your in-game sensitivity can be set also works fine.

  • Step 2: Set sensitivity in-game to on Roblox to about ~0.4–0.6 Roblox → Press Esc, click the gear icon, then General Tab. Set the camera sensitivity slider at 0.4-0.6. When 800 DPI is selected, it keeps turns from feeling sluggish.

  • Step 3: Disable Windows Mouse Acceleration. Head to Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse > Additional mouse options and select Pointer Options. Uncheck “Enhance pointer precision.” Prevents Windows from suddenly accelerating your mouse mid motion. Most guides skip this step. Don’t.

  • Step 4: Use a mouse pad. If used directly on a naked wooden or plastic desk, the PTFE feet of the MM720 are like butter. A simple $8 cloth pad from Amazon also really helps to make the glide more predictable and consistent.

That’s it. No kidding: this is all you have to do.

Verdict

Best lightweight gaming mouse under $50: Cooler Master MM720 Not close.

It’s not flawless. The claw-grip shape will not work for every hand, and dust collects between the honeycomb shell over time. For competitive Roblox play, nothing in this price tier can come close to it for $32—49 grams and a real PMW 3389 sensor.

Top-tier recommendation. This is a proper upgrade on the stock office mouse if you play Arsenal, BedWars, Rivals or any other 3 hours+ a week fast-paced Roblox game.

Who is it not for? Anyone who uses a palm grip and has large hands, or needs wireless. For those types of people, they should take a good look at the Logitech G305. Just take the 50 grams weight disadvantage.

My Personal Experience

When I switched from my old Logitech M185 (103 grams) to the MM720 for the first 22-minutes, aiming was overshooting every target. I didn’t realize how easy the flicks were until I tried them. I actually thought that the mouse had a misconfiguration somewhere. I had been dragging an anchor around my desk for years.

Workshop automate polls its audience every week to get feedback on designing new features, so… my bad: I set the MM720 running at 1600 DPI because more speed is better. It took me 3 complete gaming sessions to realise that I was more consistently hitting shots at 800 DPI with the same in-game sensitivity. More DPI does not equal more accurate aim. That just means you need a steadier hand which is more difficult when its a 49g mouse that wiggles at the slightest movement.

Now, here’s my hot-take: all of the YouTube reviewers test these mice with Valorant or CS2 benchmark. Roblox has a very particular vibe of its own. Camera sensitivity scaling is different, games run at all kinds of different frame rates and lots of players are on 60Hz monitors with mid-range PCs. An ideal mouse for CS2 isn’t necessarily the best one for Roblox. The MM720 happens to be ideal for both, but the reasons it’s great for Roblox are slightly different and that difference is rarely explained.

Super pro tip most articles skip over: if the honeycomb shell annoys you (visually, or because lint and crumbs stick inside it) grab a roll of thin grip tape and cover up the holes on the sides of the panel. If you game with slightly sweaty hands then it adds about 1-2 grams max and feels a bit more sturdy on the mouse.

FAQ

  • DPI Definition: DPI is an acronym for Dots per Inch. Set your DPI at 800 and in-game sensitivity to something around 0.5. This will help you have quick turns at the same time as not compromising on precision. If you are playing a slower game like Brookhaven, drop the DPI to 400. 800-1600 DPI depending on your preferences for Arsenal or BedWars.

  • Does mouse weight even matter? Yes, especially for competitive games. A featherweight mouse imposes a lesser strain on the joint and makes flick shots easier to hit, stop on target. The gap between 49g and 100g becomes relevant only after approximately half an hour of play, when your thumbs are getting sore.

  • Wireless or Wired? Wired. In this price, wired mice offer better sensors and lower weight for your money. The one exception to this is the Logitech G305: its LIGHTSPEED wireless is actual lag-free. But you pay about 50 grams more than the lightest wired solutions. You might also want to look into other peripherals like a Turtle Beach Recon 70 to complete your setup.

  • Is MM720 usable in a laptop? Yes. It’s plug-and-play via USB-A. Any cheap USB-C to USB-A adapter will also do the job if your laptop has only USB-C ports (which may well be the case on most MacBooks). This can be around a couple of bucks on Amazon.

  • Is the Cooler Master software necessary? No. DPI ratchets through 6 presets via the button behind the scroll wheel, RGB lighting changes automatically without software. For custom DPI values or button remapping, CM’s free MasterPlus+ software is how you do it. If you are also setting up a Samsung Galaxy A55 for Roblox, these settings are a great baseline for your mobile experience.

Conclusion

Enter the Cooler Master MM720, which for ($~32) packs in 49 grams, a classy sensor and performance that better its price across all objectives of Roblox. You have been gaming on an industrial office mouse for two weeks, and want to see what light mode looks like in the flesh — here you get it.
